There has been a tremendous amount of publicity from celebrity endorsements, to television reports on shows such as 60 Minutes and CNN about the Acai Berry benefit, so I thought I would provide my two cents (actually, in today’s economy, it’s probably more like 7 cents). With so much publicity, you wonder just how effective it really is.
Let us first explore what the Acai berry is; it is a fruit which grows on the Acai Palm Tree in the rain forests of Amazon. It has been part of the local’s diet for eons. The main benefit is having a thousand times more antioxidant levels than other fruits, such as red grapes. Additionally, this fruit is also high in Omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids.
So, does it work as a weight loss supplement? If you were to ask diet-based companies and plan marketers, the answer would be no, as you can imagine. However, the truth is that Acai berry is effective in weight loss, if for nothing else, the antioxidants and fatty acids the fruit provides.
Due to the high level of antioxidants, Acai berry drastically speeds up your body’s metabolism. Acai also acts as a appetite suppressant, and maybe too much, as these products emphasis maintaining a proper diet. With all the diet-related literature and content you have read, I hope you realize the most healthy approach to dieting, is not about NOT eating, it is about only selecting proper foods for your diet. Maybe the Acai berry actually does its job too well.
Today, there are countless products touting Acai berry, but be wary, as many products on the market are ‘watered down’. Just because it inhibits your appetite, does not mean you should reduce your intake. If possible, only obtain your Acai-based supplements that list the percentages of Acai berry in each recommended dosage.
Overall, proof should be in the initial use of the product, so look for those companies offering free initial supply, or where you can clearly identify the ingredients and amounts.
