Do you have an interest in raising money for a good cause for your marathon journey? Typically, we get so caught up in our daily lives and training, that we forget how easy running for charity could actually be. There is just something about helping others during the long training program. For me, it helps keep me focused; making sure I eat, sleep, and train properly so that I may reach my goal.
I have identified a number of programs below, though I would have to be a bit biased for the organization I promote…Girls on the Run.
Girls on the Run
Founded by Molly Barker in 1996, the Girls on the Run® mission is to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Girls on the Run is a life-changing, experiential learning program for girls aging eight to thirteen years old. The program’s main theme to build the girl’s self-esteem, and then combine training for a 3.1 mile running events, enhancing, and uplifting workouts.

Donate Your Used Running Shoes
If none of above programs fit, you can always help by donating your old running shoes to one of several organizations. In addition to the link above, check your local paper for a listing of such organizations which make home collection visits.
In closing, I wish to also plug another program called Race For Others. You can read more about it here: Race For Others
