Often, it is necessary to write a bit off-topic. For this article, I would briefly like to discuss mens sports watches. Whether a beginner or experienced sportsman, there is an array of watches to choose from. You will undoubtedly find the sports watch that is right for you and your sporting event. You will find numerous features available in many different brands and models.
Having a wide range available to choose from can actually be a negative, because it will take a bit more research to determine the right watch for your sporting event. It is best to get a clear picture of what you need based on the features relevant to your sport. For example, if you are swimmer or triathlete, you will want a watch that is water resistant. All sports watches should have the basic lap counter; beyond that, features can be across the board.
Features may include heart rate monitoring, interval timing, temperature, barometric temperature tracking, altitude and elevation, lighting, or possibly GPS capabilities. You can imagine, mountain climbs, or outdoor expeditions in general could utilize many of these features.
Based on the various features and brands to choose from, it may be good to start with a select few that will have the basics and probably, all the features listed above in model or another. Three of the top watch brands would be Garmin, Timex, and Casio.
You will find Garmin as a leader in the GPS featured watches, with their forerunner line of sports watches. The best Garmin watch for the money as of this writing, is the bit older Forerunner 305. The reason I mention the 305, is that along with running-related features, it also has map navigation, way points, and routing capabilities. The newer models, for example, the 405, does not have these features. In addition to the GPS watches, Garmin also cares a few non-GPS watches as well.
The best Timex sports watch must be their Ironman line. Most of the Ironman watches are packed with features. It is also has a small footprint and typically a lot less expensive than other models. The feature group you can expect to get in an Ironman watch include lap counter, split timing, a 100-hour chronograph stopwatch, and Timex’s patented energy-saving lighting system of indigo illumination and a night light. The lap counter will record 99-laps per session, has multiple session storing capabilities, and time stamping of the laps as well. Beyond the basics, you can also find Timex to offer such other watch features as GPS and heart rate monitoring.
One of the most well-known sports watch brands, Casio, offers more than just features…design and style. Something else that sets the Casio line of sports watches apart from the rest is its toughness, featuring their G-Shock line. They are also a great buy for the money, though you may have to try out several to find the features that best suit you, as Casio has a very wide selection of watches.
While you can get a sports watch that does almost everything you need it at your local retail store, may I recommend you spend some time deterring first, exactly what feature you want and what you can afford.
